Gratuitous Kitty Pic
I played kitty midwife Wednesday night. Five kittens total: four black and white, one solid black, all adorable. Mama and babies are doing fine.

The Cosmic Joker Strikes Again!
About two months ago, a sweet little stray kitten had kittens of her own in my backyard. None of the babies made it; they all died within a week. The day after the last one died, I came home from work and found the mother, who I named Gracie (pictured, left) cowering under my patio chair as three neighborhood tom cats circled her like sharks.
Uh-uh. We're not going through this again.
I scooped her up, took her inside, and she's been a happy, purring addition to the family ever since.
And then I took her in to be spayed today.
Guess what?
I was too late.
She's going to have another litter in about a week.
